So lately I’ve really been reconsidering my opinion on The Hunger Games. I read the trilogy and enjoyed them, but wrote them off as another teen lit series that would grow in popularity and then fade away. I didn’t think it had the lasting power of the Harry Potter series due to the writing style and occasional plot holes.
Now, after reading some Hunger Games fanfiction (yeah yeah, so sue me) and talking to my mom who is a middle school librarian, I think that those books really resonate with kids now. They have a lot of great messages that can be taken and are much deeper than the majority of teen lit on the market today.
So here I am, officially repealing my previous claims that The Hunger Games books are lame. I’m a fan.
